(Pronounced Tah-roe) or kalo is a tropical plant grown primarily as a food source for its edible root and leaf vegetable. It is considered a staple in the Hawaiian culture and used in many food items including Taro Chips, Taro Rolls, and most commonly known as the main ingredient in Poi.
